A Choral Wake-Up Call Comes to Koret Auditorium, July 24
San Francisco, CA
A haunting, lyrical, and unflinching new theatrical work arrives July 24 at the Koret Auditorium, United Nations Plaza. Block 2025, created by retired hospice worker and theater visionary Axel Osterberg, stitches the testimonies of the silenced into a resounding warning bell against authoritarianism. Its title bridges two moments of terror: Block 25 of Auschwitz, and Project 2025 in contemporary America.
Presented by Sanctuarey.org, the 501(c)(3) arts and justice collective, Block 2025 features a community ensemble of professors, faith leaders, BIPOC, elders, AI architects, artists, hospice workers, and migrants. These are living witnesses, bearing real grief, rage, love, and courage.
With monologues drawn from detention centers, court transcripts, border testimonies, and history’s ash, the play challenges audiences to witness history repeating, and having done so, answer the call to stewardship.
